Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair 2014

The Knoxville Gem & Mineral Society presented its Special Awards for Excellence in the Earth Sciences to four students participating in the Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Each student received a gift card to purchase books at Amazon and a family membership in KGMS for 2014. In addition, each student’s school received a donation of earth science materials to support their educational activities in earth sciences.

The winning projects were selected by a distinguished team of judges: Ray Lahti is a metallurgical engineer and mineral collector. Del Disney is the Education Director of the Knoxville Gem and Mineral Society and teaches Lapidary Arts classes.
